Designed as the residence of Richard Allen esq., perspective published in The Building News, October 30th 1885. Ty-to-Maen was built in 1885-89 by E. Bruce Vaughan of Cardiff, who was also the diocesan architect. Sir William Edgar Nicholls, a subsequent owner presented the mansion and estate to the Cardiff Royal Infirmary for use as a convalescent home. Designed in a Tudor Revival style, built mostly of snecked rock-faced stone with Bathstone dressings. Now known as St. John’s College.
