1883 – Premiated Design for National Museum, Kildare St., Dublin
Architect: R. Knill Freeman
Winner of the first architectural competition to design the National Museum for Ireland in Kildare Street. “This design, by Mr. R. Knill Freeman, F.R.I.B.A., of Bolton-le-Moors, was one of the five selected for the final competition, and premiated. It was recommended for adoption by the committee of selection, and when, in deference to popular clamour in Dublin, the whole scheme was r-opened, a further sum in compensation was specially awarded by the Government to the author.” The Architect, October 20, 1883.
