In 1883, a Methodist (later United) church was designed by Winnipeg architect James Chisholm and built at the corner of Ellice Avenue and Notre Dame Avenue. An unusual-looking and eclectic design, it featured a central dome over the main entrance, a rear tower, and an ornate roof line. The interior had a massive organ and galleried aisles. The church closed in June 1955, was demolished in 1957, and the site has never been redeveloped.
