Described in The Building News as “The site is on high ground, and commands extensive views of the Co. Antrim seacoast and Larne Harbour in the distance. The work has been carried out for Mr. Stewart Clark, of Kilnside, Paisley, the owner of the estate, from the designs of Mr. S. P. Close. Messrs. Dixon and Co., Belfast, are the contractors. Our illustration is reproduced from a drawing exhibited by the architect, Mr. Samuel Close, at this year’s Royal Hibernian Academy.” Later much extended as Cairndhu House by the same architect for Stewart Clark’s son, Sir John Stewart-Clark.
