1879 – Church of St. Michael & All Angels, Bedford Park, London
St Michael and All Angels Church sits at the junction of Turnham Green Terrace and Bath Road – opposite Acton Green and Turnham Green tube station. Designed by the famous late-Victorian architect Norman Shaw, as the centrepiece of Bedford Park – the world’s first garden suburb – the church boasts a remarkable interior displaying several gems from the Arts and Crafts movement.
From The Building News: “The drawings are carefully figured, and descriptive notes are given with the several parts, so that further description here is unnecessary. Next week we hope to conclude our series of illustrations of the church by publisking a perspective view with ground plan, a longitudinal section and details of the aisle window, buttresses, &c. We understand that a parsonage house is to be built adjoining the church. Mr. E. Norman Shaw, E.A., is the architect of all the buildings on the Bedford-park estate. ”
