1873 – Vicarage near Kirkby Lonsdale, Westmorland
OPublished in The Building News, December 19 1873: “The accompanying drawing represents the S.E. view of Vicarage residence recently built at Barbon, near Kirkby Lonsdale, on one of the most beautiful sites in the picturesque valley of the Lune. It is built of light brown grit stone, with light Freestone dressings, and bands and relieving arches of red Penrith stone. The accommodation comprises drawing-room, dining-rooms, and library, kitchens and scullery, larders, and dairy cellar, six bedrooms, w.c, and bath-room, and the customary outbuildings. The cost, complete, has been a little under £1,000. The architects are Messr. Brade and Smales, of Kendal. The contractors, Messrs. Atkinson, Smith, and Moorhouse, of Kirkby Lonsdale. “
