Published in The Building News, March 7 1873, described as a “freely inventive” European Gothic style. Swan Downer’s School was a girls’ charity school founded in Brighton, Sussex, with a bequest from London merchant Swan Downer, initially educating 20 girls and providing clothing. Recently it has been in use as the Rialto Theatre and as of January 2024 was being converted into a live music venue. Listed Grade II.
