1865 – Ardhu House, Limerick
Ardhu House was built for Thomas Revington, costing £4,500. There was also an accompanying gate lodge to the house which has been demolished. A detached three-bay two-storey Italianate villa style house, facing east with a return and a three-bay two-storey side wing to north. A two-bay two-storey building to north and west formed a courtyard enclosed to the north by a range of stone buildings. It became a hotel in the early 1960s and was taken over by the Ryan Hotel Group to become known as the Ardhu Ryan Hotel and later Clarion Suites. It ceased operations in 2004.
In 2002, An Bord Pleanála upheld a Limerick City Council decision to refuse planning permission for five apartment blocks in the grounds of the hotel. The site has lain idle since 2010. After sitting empty for many years, a new planning application was lodged in November 2023 for housing on the site surrounding the house.
