1860 – St. Maeldoid’s Church of Ireland, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan
Architect: Joseph Welland

Architect to the Board of First Fruits and subsequently to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, Joseph Welland died a couple of months before St. Maeldoid’s was completed. Designed as a freestanding Early English Gothic-style stone church, it has a cruciform plan and polygonal chancel, with a slim three-stage tower and spire. The interior has some fine carved memorials and stained glass windows dedicated to deceased parishioners.
