Designed by architects Deane and Woodward, St. Anne’s School & Molesworth Hall was a freestanding building built of Portland, Calp, and Caen stone, with red brick. The building had horizontal bands of contrasting materials, which was very much the architectural fashion of the time. The adjoining building, Molesworth Hall, also designed by Deane, was constructed in 1867 – Woodward having died in 1861. Molesworth Hall was home to the Irish National Theater Society before they moved to the Abbey Theatre in 1904. Sadly, both were demolished in 1978.
