1853 – Herdman’s Flax Spinning Mills, Sion Mills, Co. Tyrone

A vast and magnificent mill complex constructed by the Herdman family, who also built the model village and their home here. The main building is four floors of brick vaulted construction of sixtenen bays. A further 6 bays with buttresses was later added, along with other lower buildings. Now sadly derelict after a series of fires, and very much at risk of being lost.
