Architect: Cuatodio Moreno
Madrid’s Teatro Real on the Plaza de Oriente is the home of the Madrid Symphony Orchestra and Choir as well as invited soloists, conductors and visiting opera companies from around Europe. Doors to the Teatro Real opened on November 19, 1850 to celebrate the Queen Isabel II’s birthday with an inaugural performance of Donizetti’s La Favorita. It had taken a mere 32 years to build and embellish.
