1837 – Cavalry Guard House, Dublin Castle, Ireland

One of several smaller buildings of the Dublin Castle complex built to the design of Jacob Owen of the Board of Public Works. The complex of buildings formed an important part of the administrative and security services that the castle required including barracks, police offices, and stables. The gate of the guard house was axially aligned with the entrance into the upper yard, probably to create a ceremonial route. The buildings were replaced by the present-day Stamping Building completed in 1973 by Frank du Berry of the Office of Public Works, the successor to the Board of Public Works.
