1806 – Dhuarigle Castle, Millstreet, Co. Cork

Dhuarigle Castle was a fine Gothic Revival castellated house, built 1806 by Thomas Justice, incorporating the remains of a medieval tower house to the west. A plaque in the east wall reads: “Thomas Holmes Justice Castelum Duaragil reparavit AD 1806”. Eventually it passed to the Land Commission who sold on the house and it briefly again was the hub of a local social scene. Sold again in 1955 to owners who dismantled the castle roof and moved into the gate lodge. Now an ivy clad ruin.
