1786 – Bryansford Gate, Tollymore Park, Bryansford, Co. Down
Architect: Thomas Wright
One of several ornate gateways, follies, and eye-catchers in the former demense of Tollymore Park. This distinctive granite gate features foiled buttresses, crenelated parapets, and crocketed pinnacles, and was based on a design by Thomas Wright. It served as one of the principle entrances into the demense, as well as the service entrance for the barn and stables. The central carriage gateway arch frames the spire of the Clanbrassil Barn, with a magnificent view of the mountains in the distance.
