1779 – Nos. 14-15 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin
Beautifully conserved early in the 21st century, this pair of large Georgian houses are part of a row of imposing townhouses. Saint Stephen’s Green developed in a more unplanned fashion than the later Georgian squares such as Merrion and Fitzwilliam Squares. That led to a variety of house sizes and appearances. With the next two houses along this side, a historical version of a less commercial Stephen’s Green can be imagined. This pair are quite grand in size and appearance with their large flights of granite steps.
