1770 – St. Iberius’ Church, Main Street, Wexford
Architect: John Roberts
This late Georgian church, circa early 1770s, is dedicated to Saint Ibar of Beggerin (Iberius). Designed by Waterford architect John Roberts, there is a fine galleried interior with box pews intact, and an arcaded altar area. The interior has a rich collection of monuments to local parishioners. The original glazing can be seen at the rear of the altar area, while the main facade was rebuilt in the 1880s. The later facade is Venetian Renaissance in style with polychromic treatments around the windows. It has a central tower breaking free of the facade to an unusual turret spire.
