1474 – Rathaus, Kempten, Bavaria, Germany

The Rathaus or Townhall has a fine if unusual principal facade which faces onto the Rathausplatz. Bounded on all sides by streets, the Rathaus once had an arcaded ground floor perhaps for use as a covered market. Like many buildings in this area of Bavaria, it has painted decoration on its exterior. With the exception of this facade with its striking tower, it is quite a simple building.
