Just a small plug for A2 architects who are giving a lecture at the University of Sydney next Thursday.
http://www.usyd.edu.au/news/architecture/295.html?eventcategoryid=29&eventid=4520
Title of talk: A2 Architects - Emerging Work
Speaker(s): Caomhán Murphy
Introducer: Daniel Ryan, University of Sydney
Date: 03/09/09
Time: 6:30-8pm
Location: ALT1 Lecture theatre, Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning, University of Sydney, NSW 2006
About the talk:
A2 Architects is founded on a shared interest in both the continuing development of architectural practice as well as the unchanging, essential nature of architecture. A constant excitement and spirit in architecture is sought out, be it in a modest house or in the realm of spaces found in a school. The talk will review some of the themes explored in the formative years of the practice.
About the speaker:
A2 Architects was established by Peter Carroll and Caomhán Murphy in Dublin in 2005. They both graduated from University College Dublin in 1995.
In 2007 they co-represented Ireland at the inaugural Lisbon Architecture Triennale in Portugal with four residential projects on the given theme of Urban Void/Extended City. In 2008 their project entitled 'One up One Down One Deep' won the Royal Institute of Irish Architects Award for Best House Extension and in 2009 they won the RIAI Best Education Building Category for the new French School at the Eurocampus in Dublin. Current work includes a small gallery in Vienna as well as private houses in Ireland and Spain.
