Sydney Opera House

Joern Utzon, who died at the weekend in Denmark aged 90, created a masterpiece and put a city and a country on a cultural route map that has spread well beyond its boundaries. Along the way, despite opposition from the doubters, the bean counters and the vote catchers he endured considerable personal sacrifice and abuse. It is an incredible disappointment for all concerned that he was not persuaded to view the finished edifice which is his and our legacy.
