Mechanical Engineer want to do a degree in architecture

folks,
I am very keen on doing a degree in architecture, but i do not have the appropriate leaving cert points to apply threw CAO, i do have an honours degree in Mechanical engineering and i am 21 years old ( so the mature student option is out of the question for another 2 years) i am working as an engineer at the moment but definitly want to start architecture in september and i dont mind where...just need to know is there any courses i could do in the mean time like portfolio or something to improve my chances of getting the course...
