do the design schools properly prepare students for real life?
just something that springs to mind.. do our design schools produce worthwhile architects when they come into the workplace? would it be better to have an apprenticeship in architecture? or can both work

people who leave college are generally still in the process of training. a "worthwhile" architect is, i would consider, somebody with a part 3 qualification and decent experience.

Ideally the process of education never ends, but in reality most people settle into a routine after ten years or so and find it hard to move on.
I think the move towards architecture as a three year graduate degree rather than a five year undergrad is a good one - it's bringing in people with interesting backgrounds.

Architecture is really a thought and learning process. That gives you skills to become an architect when you leave school. But most graduates would have a severe lack of practical knowledge, or construction understanding.
Directly contrasted with Architectural technology were the course is much more focused on practical uses of construction methods.
But in both cases unpom graduation, there will still be alot o learn, how much depends on the student.

Is there even such a thing as a degree in Klingon? I'd imagine at the most it could be an elective.
