The shortlist has been announced for the 2005 RIAS Andrew Doolan Award for Architecture, Best Building in Scotland - the UK's biggest architecture prize. The four architect judges were extremely impressed by the quality of all the buildings visited and, in particular, those that reached the final shortlist. The objective of this major award is simple - find the best new building in Scotland. Buildings projects of all sizes and types from all over Scotland have been considered. The architects of the winning building will receive Â£25,000, making this the biggest architecture prize in the UK and one of the most significant architecture awards in the world. The winner will be announced at a ceremony at the Point Conference Centre, Edinburgh at 1pm on Wednesday 5 October 2005.

That looks pretty clear cut; from a financial point of view there can only be one winner and from a design point of view the leader is pretty innovative too. I've never seen an interior lighting system being so effective as an external design feature.

it's in Glasgow's red light district Thomond..........we thought we'd give the girls something to look at during their tea breaks.

Gets very busy around Blythswood Street though, when it glows red.

Of course, what it also means is that 66% of voters in, I guess, Scotland ....3530 of 5340 people who have voted would rather their Parliament did'nt win which is also amazing.

what a surprise eh, the biggest shock was that a bloke that Iv'e never seen or heard of picked up the award as the architect.
