Forum Help
No offense, but the forums are pretty weak. There is not much activity on the posts and checking in once a month would be sufficient. You need to attract people to the site somehow and I believe that there is potential for a real community here.

Re: Forum Help
define "weak"? this is a pretty well-trafficked site considering how specialised it's content is. the irish architecutral community is quite small.

Ah now - you'd be back three pages at that rate on Ireland, though perhaps you are referring to the UK, Canada etc in which case you are not far off the mark I suppose, though as sw says this is to be expected given the content and the community in Ireland especially.
I wonder though: has the sudden increase in new members in the past year or so got to do with increasing awareness of the site or increasing internet access - particularly the spread of broadband?

i would imagine awareness. this site doesn't lend itself towards needing broadband, being mostly text and smallish images.

Re: Forum Help
Hmmm - well I remember when Paul used to post four pictures in a row on a thread and I'd be ready to throttle him for having sitting there for half an hour waiting to see them
I recall Pearse St Library in particular taking over a minute to upload, with the thread jumping all over the feckin place when trying to read text as each image appeared - so certainly broadband has made life much easier in that respect!
Though yes in the site proper, images are more conveniently sized and the enlarging option is handy for dialler-uppers.

Forgot to say - the word on the street is that congratulations are in order
(yes okay I was lurking over there)
So you see it fit to tell that lot and not us - well fine, if it's gonna be like that...*huff*
No wonder the mortar board analogy with Smithfield came to mind

Alas I am but a recreational user, a lurker if you will.
One needs a bit of cheering up after threads featuring the likes of...
or this...
...something that P45 does rather well.
Haven't stopped laughing in the past week at seeing the latest smilie
, one I think that would be a very welcome addition to the Archiseek repertoire
Anyway, every succes and all that sort of thing - may thee of the straight line brigade design many a cubular edifice.

Re: Forum Help
I counted less than twenty posts today. The other forums for other related topics that I frequent have that happen in an hour. Oh, and I see you have to be Irish or interested only in Irish architecture to participate in this site. I suggested that you attract more people to the site, what do you want me to develop the advertising campaign!! I will start passing out flyers today but meanwhile why dont you add a United States forum.
