A Short History of Skyscrapers
Worth checking out on BBC1, Tuesday nights, ''A Short History of Skyscrapers'' presented by Alan Yentob. Last night dealt with Mies van der Rohe and the influence of the international style; looking at cities such as New York and Chicago and how they influenced high rise living throughout the world and in particular London. had the big guns on it too Richard Rodgers, Renzo Piano and Norman Foster. It's all happening in London at the mo, with the Gherkin, etc... Piano porposes to add to the London skyline ''the shard of glass'' a stylish appartment/ofice block. We should take a leaf out of London's book in this instance.
