what do people think of the millenium plaza (nearing completion)on the quay in waterford city. personally i am trying to refrain from critical comment for the moment. however, i find the positioning questionable as well as the opportunity for abuse that the exposed structure poses. also this raises the question as to wether the architect, when designing public spaces, should be so restricted by the possibility of vandalism that the finished product seems to be suitable for prison use.

I think the plaza is an impressive piece of work (so far). It is quite courageous and I would fear for it's appearance, because of the threat of vandalism. I do not think however, that planners and architects should avoid such projects because of this threat. Most buildings/ monuments in Irish cities are likely to be subject to graffiti etc. Generally, I think it is an excellent addition to the quayside, and to the city as a whole.
