Atkinson House (21 New Street, Dublin 8)
I'm doing a postgraduate thesis on The Refurbishment of Atkinson House, 21 New Street, Dublin 8. I was wondering would anyone have any old photographs of New Street or any general or specific information on the Building. I am also interested in Richard Atkinson, the Silk Merchant, Industrialist, Philanthropist and two time Lord Mayor of Dublin.
Any information would be greatly received.

Richard Atkinson & Co had premises at 31 College Green (Where Ulster Bank extension now stands) and at Merchants Hall, beside the Ha'penny Bridge. Does anyone have any information on the history those buildings? I'm thinking, old photos of College Green or the Ha'penny Bridge that may show details of Atkinson's shops.

On the west side of New Street near St. Patrick's Cathedral was the New Inn, the rock band venue du jour at the end of the 'eighties. All the names of the time played there. Hot Press had a standard interview question: 'Who would you most like to see in the New Inn?' It was demolished in '89 or '90 for the Patrick Street dual-carraigeway.
