Just found add from Henchion+Reuter Architects (RIAI) looking for German speaking employee, 2 weeks ago Douglas Walles advertised on FAS for French speaking employee, out of this FAS advertising for 9 Work Placement Program Places (no salary position) which mean - NO JOB FOR ENGLISH SPEAKING ARCHITECTS WITH EXPERIENCE.
And in my humble opinion spending states money for sponsoring free employee to architectural office, while there are HUNDREDS of unemployed experienced architects is just outrageous.

What's your point? If one of the skills they need is a particular language, then so be it. Am I missing something?

Could it be that the firms mentioned have won or are competing for work in France and Germany? Given the pool of talent available there's bound to be some with languages skills as well.

Well H+R does have an office in Germany, so that could be the reason.

I don't understand the Fas work placement requirements, some offices are looking for very specific employees to carry out unpaid work (and not just someone looking for experience).

When you get a credit recession predicated on a credit bust it is going to be very dificult to get work if you find yourself out of a job; simple supply overhang being leveraged by employers. There are plenty of places where english alone will get you a job, the question is do people have the ambition to go to Oz or wherever the work is to keep their CVs intact?

Agreed this is nonsense but I can see the taxi drivers point on the number of taxi licenses issued between 2001 and 2010 as part of the ECB/PD led supply side agenda; the amount of fuel consumed used by empty cabs driving around Dublin must significantly affect the balance of payments almost as much as the SUVs that bankraupt builders used when they used drive from McMansion to McMansion in the Bertie days when the banks were creating the bust with cheerled help from the ECB economists.

Agreed but just look at France, Sarkozy has lost the plot in recent years; economic downturn = restless natives = misplaced racism which puts off high net worth foreigners investing = continuation of downturn.....
