"Smilies"
One of the few leaps forward in the use of HTML based Bulletin Board over and above Newsgroups is the ability to see emoticons renders in a variety of shapes and colours.
This board allegedly supports the following:
However I cannot see five of these as emoticons, but only as the text representations between colons.
I know from posting on other boards that
for example, actually results in a graphic of rolled eyes (static).
However, these are neither immediately identifiable emoticons seen on other BBS's nor are they the Usenet Standards.
My own rather limited portfolio of the latter includes
Happy
Very Happy
) Roading with Laughter
Grumy
>:-< Angry
I know, I know - I had a limited emotional range - there were others, but these were the main ones.
Now here is a fuller list, including many I've never seen before.

The question is - can we get the emoticon's workin?
TIA

The "Dolly Parton" one is good. :-) 8
Then there's the "Wearing a toupee in an updraft" }:-)
But one you may find particularly useful is the "Condescending Stare" :-8(
