Galway Coach Station
Although this building has been mentioned in other Galway related threads, I thought it was worth a mention in its own right. I passed through here last night and to say that I was impressed by the place would be an understatement. The spacious interior is a far cry from the old Fair Green car park that generations of Galweigans used to drown in while waiting for a bus to Ballinasloe.
The terminal is far superior to the nearby Bus Eireann and Rail Station.
In terms of design, it even surpasses the airport.
At a time when buses are seen as the last resort in travel, Galway Coach Station attempts to give a reasonable first impression at the start of the journey out of town or a good impression to first time visitors who arrive in Galway by bus.

Re: Galway Coach Station
Agreed, its an excellent facility - almost too generous for the amount of use it's currently getting. It's a pleasant, neutral space without any flashy details and it's all the better for it. The exterior also turned out quite well with the blueish glazing, well detailed brise-soleil and the entrance canopy with elegant signage making an impressive addition to the city.
I'd like to see the planned cafe open up on the mezzanine level, something of decent quality that will bring people in who aren't using the bus services and adding life to the facility. There's also acres of empty floor space and generous height that could work very well as a gallery or exhibition space.

Arrived in Galway recently to this building and a hugely pleasant surprise. Reminded me of countries like Mexico which have hugely developed competitive bus services with plush stations and facilities.
Offerings like this will keep our tourism market developing to attract a broader range of traveler. Fair play to them.
