Does anybody have an image of said hut?

And does anybody know where it is now? When it was removed the story was that it would be re-erected at another location in the future.

I think that the City Council have it in storage.I vaguely remember that there were plans to restore it and re-use it.

With the new kiosks on Grand Parade and The South Mall its unlikely that we will see it soon unfortunatly.

No it was at the Patricks Bridge / Merchants Quay S.C.end behind the "Statue" opposite the entrance to Merchants Quay (probably the ugliest building in Cork) entrance to Patricks Street.

No LOB, that isn't it.
It was located next to (or behind) the Fr. Matthew Statue. It was very old - originally used as a watchout for Firemen in case a fire started in the city. Much later it was used by Bus Eireann as an office to organise city bus routes from Patrick Street. Due to its removal, Bus Eireann had to be accomodated with a frankly ugly replacement which is located near Penneys. However, that facility seems never to be in use and should be removed.

This is the structure I was referring to. The earlier structure doesn't look like the same thing at all. Different shape.

Yeah, that was my first reaction too when I looked at that photo. Someone posted a great photo of Merchant's Quay before the redevelopment, and even in poor nick it looked great in comparison to what's there now.

The character of Cork's city centre is based on a wonderful diversity of building styles and materials; unlike the modern Merchant's Quay in which the entire quay homogeneous in height, style and materials.

I've recently bought the book CORK CITY- a field guide to its street furniture, by Tom Spalding, (bought in Porters for 15 euro)and on page78 it gives a good rundown on it. It also states that its currently stored outdoors at a council depot awaiting an uncertain future .
