Members of Limerick Boat Club are set to go back to the drawing board following the rejection of their multi million euro proposals to redevelop their site at Sarsfield Bridge.
An Bord Plenala has refused planning permission for the 20 million euro project due to concerns of overdevelopment
on Wellesley Pier.
Limerick City Council had agreed last January to delist the clubhouse as a protected structure, which paved the way for the application, which included a civic space, restaurant and a landmark building to house the boat club.
Limerick Boat Club President Dermot Moloney says the their vision for the club will have to be looked at again.
He said the current facilty was unacceptable to house the club in this day and age.
