Malls and footfalls
In the context of the plan for a giant mall stretching from O'Connell Street to Parnell Street, have there been studies in other countries of the effect on footfall of city centre malls?
What are these studies and where were they done?
Did they find that a self-contained shopping mall containing many shops increased footfall in the surrounding shopping streets, or decreased it?
What was the effect on the income to the local economy?
What was the effect on the rates collected by the local council?
