Music Promos featuring Dublin streetscapes 80s/90s
Right after various youtube shenanaigans I reckon this is worth a thread of its own- First up the Blades promo which I am pretty sure is shot in Michael's Mansions off Gardiner St, even though they were dyed in the wool Ringsend southsiders, I am open to correction-great song with out question. Also added a Stars of Heaven promo for '28' a lost classic if ever there was one but features -from this site's POV great contemporary shots of the city. Need more contributions...<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fgKC3dAJueU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fgKC3dAJueU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

hutton drew our attention to this one before, but it bears re-posting.

And then there's this little gem. Any stories you may have heard about a ctesiphon family connection with these lads have been greatly exaggerated. I remember hearing at the time this came out that it was filmed inside the Point (that's what the O2 used to be called, kids!) before it was done up- seems plausible.

Of course, like all promising Dublin bands, they decided to seek fame and fortune in the US of A, so they re-made the video... at an airport? Maybe Citywest - pre-Giant Heap Of Crap - was just too perfect a location?

Not a massive amount of streetscape, but there is the odd bit if you can get past the remarkable fashion crimes going on (not including the ever cool Mr Lynott of course)... Is this what the place is going to be like after the current recession defeats us all?

Not sure what ever happened to these guys. I think one of them works in Tower Records now.

More of that lot. Might have been more interesting if they went a little easy on the dry ice for this one.

Here's a very nice one from 1994. Always liked this song.

The '80s, when everyone wanted to sound like the Smiths.
That's Strand Street, no?
edit, I recognise the crossroads of Strand St. and Jervis St. (Swift's Row) at 2:32. The building on the left with the concrete piers which the fella is sitting outside is I think still there. The buildings on the opposite side of the street are now the back of the Morrison Hotel.
