Vertigo? U2 tower to be taller

It wasn't in the window where the old U2 tower model was yesterday anyway, I checked.
Anyone got a scanner or even a digital camera to take a photo of the metro picture?

Re: Vertigo? U2 tower to be taller
I have a copy I'll post later tonight. Eh, no I don't think that is the U2 tower. It looks a dead ringer for thisDAMAC tower in Dubai though... all 90 floors! The photo was of Darren Simpson and Charlie King of Damac properties... so I wonder if it was just a stock shot.
I suspect shoddy journalism really. But maybe I'm wrong... I don't really expect much from the Metro TBH.

Thanks! I suspect you are probrably right. No image anywhere on the internet or on any other paper ive seen. Id imagine the DDDA would be anxious to show off a model of their pet project.

Yeh I'd a feeling it was dodgy journalism as well. Seems it most definitely was. Now where's ctesiphon with a trademark biting barb about the Metro and crayons when you need him?

Yep trés dodgy indeed, all the people reading the Metro last Friday were like "ooh look at the size of that!". I just said "Where's the bloomin' egg?"

Feckin eejits! (Metro that is)
A nice example of the kind of skycrapers we SHOULD be building though. National conference centre hotel in spencer dock, compare and contrast?

A but now you are being silly JoePublic, that building has more in common with the NCC proposal, which you oppose, than the U2 tower, which you support.

When a man has taken the trouble to coat himself in manure, he doesn't need me to tell him he smells.

Re: Vertigo? U2 tower to be taller
Am I to understand that the design of U2 tower has changed again? is there still an energy centre and a gap at the base of the building with a through road like the last design? Is this it finally a definative design, final, definate, or will this be another ten years?

cgcsb, the suggestion is that the Metro got it wrong and inaccurately labelled it the U2 tower when in fact it's a tower in Dubai. A suggestion that seems reasonably clear from comparing the images.

Re: Vertigo? U2 tower to be taller
Seville ,Spain - they recently held an skyscraper competion, not unlike our u2 debacle,
Winner is a 178m tall 40storey Cesar Pelli design, nothing amazing in my non-expert opinion
BUT, what are the odds this WILL be built roughly on time:D, its scheduled for completion c2010

In Seville 2010 you'll be assured that 40 storey building will be dominating the skyline, what'll we have?

Unlike yesterday, when Metro printed a letter from a guy who left his sports bag on the 8:08 am Dart from Malahide.
I suppose the story was accurate, at least.

The U2 tower (which I'm not sure I like) is still 10 times better than that Pelli building in Seville. The giant police light in a steel cage on top is horrible!

It is in the link if you look. At the bottom of the fist paragraph at the bottom of the second (history) paragraph and at the bottom of the paragraph after that. God gave you two eyes, use them

It's not so much a question of "Vertigo? U2 tower to be taller" as it is "Vertigo? U2 tower to be built?"
