I saw it already ;)

But isn't it unfair people don't get such free information about their cities ? What do you do? buy it ?

Oceanfree/Mapflow has an excellent mapping tool here:
http://interactive2.iol.ie/oceanmaps/content/index.asp

Now it may just look like maps, but keep zooming in and it surns into aerial photos. Hurray!!!

There's also terraserver:
http://www.terraserver.com/

It used to have Dublin but my Mac frickin' hates it these days so I can't check...

And does anyone have any more aerial photos they want me to scan and upload??? You get your name on the page and lots of links and stuff...

fjp

(copyright of the aerials on my site!!! at the moment paul it is indeed slightly unkown, but all the 1980's balck and white ones are safe. and hey - it's for the good of the human race!!! :))

I recall an ex-boss having an aerial map of the Limerick city area hanging on his wall - however the jail and barracks were blacked out, unlike Oceanfree/Mapflow were they are freely visable... Does anybody know if there was ever an actual restriction on publishing pictures of such 'sensitive' locations ?!?

Answer here under constraints

http://gmes.jrc.it/Aerial%20Photography%20in%20Europe/Ordnance%20Survey%20of%20Ireland.htm

I would imagine that in the past most aerial photos were issued via the ordinance survey so therefore they could control the process.
a lot of web based information is probably sourced outside the state (Terraserver) so therefore not as easy to control.

Nasa has a big colection of pictures taken from space but I couldn't find Dublin there... anyway it might be relevant to some of you, specially fjp...

Yeah, NASA are the bomb. As far as I know they only have a few Irish photos of Galway or somewhere. The thing to note is that the images are available FREE from the site. You can even download them, make a book of them and then sell it on...

go NASA!!!

I bet you didn't have this 1: the night over Europe except us.
It's a very rare picture where you can see Ireland's sky clean!!

(I don't know from who is from so don't use it for "comercial" stuff)

Holy dog-shit!!! That one's new to me alright...

I haven't really had a good poke around EFS in about two years, so perhaps it's visiting time again...
