Old Cork Warehouse Albert Qy
Proposed application for Albert Qy in front of the Elysian by Howard Holdings.
Initial impressions not good. Wouldn't be too upset to see this killed. One has to wonder what discussions (pre-planning) go on in City Hall.

I like it, although it is a pity it is not a few storey higher to contrast with the elysian. Although I question how the red and grey cladding will look in real life!

It's pretty tactless and unmercilessly overbearing on city hall. The bulk needs drastic reduction.

From one or two angles it looks vaguely interesting, but overall I agree with you. In the last pic it looks extremely squat, dare I say it, it might even benefit from using less of its site but being a bit taller.

Bulk bulk bulk.

Re: Old Cork Warehouse Albert Qy
I don't get it.
It's supposed to be 7 storeys high
The sextant is 3 storeys high, with a roof elevation.
And yet this building appears to be four times the height.
In the view from the Clarion, it looks OK, if a bit bulky.
The view from Jury's Inn is just bland.
The view from South Mall just screams 'Refusal'

Agreed .
The West facing elevation is appalling and devoid of ideas.
Bulky and bland is a good description maybe it shoud "mirror" the Clarion etc across the river somewhat in scale with an opportunity to do something on the northeast corner facing down the river which was not done with the offices opposit as they have a glass block drum.'
The whole thing is quite wrong.

That's horrendous, to me it looks like another crap HKR scheme that pays no attention to its immediate surroundings

The site is one of the best in the city when you look at issues such as road frontage, plenty of light and just the non clutter of the location. What ever is built here must be low in height. Any thing taller then 3 storey's will create a dark dull effect.

I think the elysian has set the precent for that whole area in terms of height. I'm not talking about the tower but the block around it.

With the Elysian behind and City Quarter / The Clarion to the North you are looking at approval for 6 / 7 stories with a setback at roof level.
Great site and an opportunity to do something of quality there must not be lost.

I would like something taller and much much less bulky.
