american architect looking to move to toronto

I have a few questions about what the logistics would be for me to move from America to Toronto to work in an architecture firm. Would it be easiest for me to go ahead and obtain a work permit, or are firms open to sponsorship etc.? Also, how is the job market right now? Good?
