I can only think of a couple firms in Calgary whose work I've seen and thought was reasonable:
Cohos Evamy is a big multidisciplinary practice whose work doesn't seem too bad.

John Brown's Housebrand is an interesting architecture/real estate hybrid that makes nifty modern homes out of homely old bungalows but when I visited his office/presentation centre I got the sense that he's a one-man show.
