Review this Honeycomb Housing idea
Houses are arranged around a sort of courtyard, like friends sitting around a table. In the middle is a small park. The courtyards are arrayed in an interlocking fashion such that each block faces two or three courtyards. In this way, each block can be partitioned into 2, 3, 4 or 6 units, increasing the number of units in each courtyard, but without affecting the quality of the external space. A pocket park is found in each courtyard in front of every house. The large trees in the middle and smaller ones in front of the houses create a cool shady area.
The courtyards are connected to each other and to a main road to form cul-de-sacs. This is an alternative to terrace houses. A combination of quadruplex and sextuplex units can equal the density and better the land-use efficiency of rows of terrace houses.
