Alvar Aalto and his undulating curves?

Postby Klenz » Thu Nov 03, 2005 7:04 am

Hi everyone, I'm new here and as a fresh architecture student this is an absolutely awesome place to learn things from.

Basically I'm currently doing a study on the curves alvar aalto use in his industrial designs as well as his buildings, but am unfortunately stuck at finding a theory or general rule he uses for those curves used in the savoy vase or even the paimio chair.

My gut feel is that there isn't any general rule to these curves, rather it is an innate ability in aalto to produce curves that are proportional and "pleasing".

Anyone has any info on this?

Thanks for your help :)

Edit: Oh no I just realised after posting that I placed this thread in the wrong place. My apologies.
