Re: Zaha Hadid brings subtlety to Cincinnati. Not something it's used to.
I got hate mail from people in Cincinnati (19th century nickname Porkopolis) when I first published the piece at the top of this thread. How dare I, an effete European, criticise America in any way, shape or form, was the general gist.
Reading it again now, I wouldn't change my last sentence: "The Contermporary Arts Centre is not nearly enough to salvage Cincinnati's wrecked urban fabric."

It was the pork-processing centre of the USA until Chicago took over later in the century. The flying pig is a Cincinnati mascot.

Iraqitect: Zaha Hadid commands the Guggenheim, but remembers her roots.
Whatever you think an architect looks like, whatever you think an architect does, wherever you think an architect comes from, disabuse yourselves of those notions. And consider instead Zaha Hadid, the most extraordinary success story that this notoriously volatile profession has ever produced.

Anyone hear of some towers she's doing in Dubai? Found this picture on the net but you can't see much but they look pretty interesting I think. Anyone know anymore?
