Frank Gehry & Parque Mayer
I just came back to Lisbon after two years abroad so I was completly unaware of of Frank Gehrys´strong will and profound enthusiasm to "develop" Parque Mayer and thre rest of the city centre. I would appreciate some/any information about the whole procedure of this project, was there any competition, which is his proposal, are there any schemes from other architects in relation to the same project?
Thank you in advance, stavarch.

Finally I've found some stuff:
http://www.cm-lisboa.pt/noticias/124.htm
these are the fist images being published about the project. It's in portuguese but I can already tell you thet it will have a casino, 15 cinemas, 5 theaters/studios, a cinema museum, shops, coffe shops, offices and housing (all in 42.000 sq meters of construction area).
We don't know much about the project except that it wasn't a competition (Frank Gehry was invited) and there will be other portuguese architets involded...
I guess that Gehry stills in Lisbon working on the project with the local authorities, other portuguese architects and artists that work on the place and, therefore, these images might change a lot in a near future.
The architect visited the city, saw some plays, listened to the fado and said to the media:
"Lisbon is very beautiful... I don't understand wht the hell I'm living in Los Angeles! "
background:
according to http://ulisses.cm-lisboa.pt/data/002/003/002/artigo.php?ml=4&x=b5a5pt.xml , Sir Norman Foster was also invited in 1999 to design the new project, but our goverment changed since then and for some reason that we still don't understand, he was replaced by Frank Gehry who doesn't want to loose the project...

Oops...
I got a phone call from a friend that works at Lisbon's city Hall saying that the pictures showed at http://www.cm-lisboa.pt/noticias/124.htm are not about Gehry's project (I thought so !!!)
Those pictures are a old portuguese project to the same site (Parque Mayer) and, since there aren't any pictures from Gehry's project, they published that without even mentioning the authors and a date!!!
well... journalists !

Agradeço a atenção e congratulo a iniciativa. Inês Vicente
