Conservation Areas

I am a Masters Planning student and am doing my thesis on Architectural Conservation Areas. It deals specifically with the selection and enforcement of the Areas and is a comparative study using UK models. The aim is to find out whether Ireland (the O'Connell St. ACA) can learn anything from these other models (which include Befast and Glasgow).
Can anyone suggest any literature I should look at or places or bodies I might contact?
