Alan, I read this morning that men in Glasgow live on average ten years less than men in the south. This despite the Year of Culture, Year of Architecture, and the uplifting existence of the Greek Thomson Society.
I'm worried about you. Is it the fish suppers, the fried Mars bars, the pints of heavy?
Or is Irn-Bru actually a slow-acting poison?

Men in the South Hugh, don't live ten years longer it sometimes just feels like it.
Apologies for not responding sooner, I've been on holiday. Where unfortunately the sight of me in my Issey Miyake dolphin print baggies, celtic top and sports socks was to much for my dear wife who insisted I give up on the diet you mentioned. Keeping up with the slow acting poison though.
Hey, what about our win at he Feckin RIAI Irish Awards then. These guys over the sea know a thing or two about cultchur.

Yes, congrats are in order for the RIAI award. Bloddy good going. Time was when all the worst buildings in the UK were hotels (step forward, Holiday Inn). No longer. But what I want to know is this:
When I next stay in Glasgow, I think it must be in one of your hotels. But which would you recommend, in strictest confidence? Radisson SAS or Bewleys? You are allowed to be diplomatic.

The Radisson SAS of course. Bewleys did their own interior design, trurned out like the birth child of Country Irish and Laura Ashley.
The hotel has been popoular so, when Barrie Evans came from the AJ we had to book him into the Presidential Suite, as all other rooms were taken. The fellow thought he had won the lottery, we said of course that's what we do with all our clients and contacts and would he also like a female escort for the night.
