REVITALIZING THE EUROPEAN CITY

One-day conference - 21st March 2002 - RIBA, 66 Portland Place, London W1 The Architectural Review is hosting 'Revitalizing The European on 21st March 2002, at which distinguished speakers will come from all parts of Europe to focus on the challenges that face almost all European cities. Cities are in crisis, some collapsing, others exploding.

The AR's conference will provide a wide range of ideas and projects from some of today's most creative and provocative urban thinkers: architects, planners and landscape designers. Our speakers include: Renzo Piano (Genoa and Paris) / David Mackay (Barcelona) / Nicholas Grimshaw (London) / Meinhard von Gerkan (Hamburg) / Niels Torp (Oslo) / David Chipperfield (London) / Gert Wingårdh (Stockholm) / Louisa Hutton (Berlin and London) / Adriaan Geuze (Rotterdam) / John McAslan (London)

The day's discussions will reveal the remarkable variety of built and unbuilt proposals for healing urban sores and scars and how to make the city a wondrous place to live in again. As Europeans (the people who invented the modern city), we can share experiences and ideas, and learn from the masters.
