or any information on other farm types?

try out neufert or the a.j. metric handbook, maybe there you'll find examples of farm designs.
Try some databases of architecture magazines.... plenty of individual buidings have been published in the past five of ten years.
(the RIBA website has one of those search facilities online)

thanks for the advice, and no i am not an apple user. i am a student proposing a farm for my thesis and i am at research stage at the minute. any links regarding community living, organic farming, or new approaches would be great.

Whatever you do, dont use the Neufert when designing. Its minimal dimensions and small minded nature on the possibilities of architectural discourse are stifling. Use it merely as a tool to proof the finished design, not to generate it.
