question about drawing boundary lines into plan of site
Hi there all.
I'm fairly sure this will be a very basic question for you all here but I quite need a little advice for a report I'm trying to finish. I need to draw in lines to illustrate a fence which marks the boundary of a development site. I'm not an architect, but would really like to include this illustration. Has anyone any advice on a simple programme I can download for free to use or any other ways of doing this, with a professional look?
Thanks in advance.

Re: question about drawing boundary lines into plan of site
what format is the current drawing of the site in?
there are a number of solutions, you probably have one of them already.
if it is a DWG fle then use
AutoCad (or similar cad package)
if it is a jpeg, gif or similar then use
Autocad
photoshop
coraldraw
and drawing package that is a better standard than paint.

Re: question about drawing boundary lines into plan of site
I need to scan in the plan, at the moment it's just a hardcopy! I do have photoshop, or at least the starter edition, but on't have autocad. It would be great if I could achieve this with a cheap/free program. So if I do scan it, what should I save it as? (sorry but I really don't have a clue).
Thanks by the way!

Re: question about drawing boundary lines into plan of site
scan it in save it as a JPEG, the highest quaility your scanner will allow.
open in photo shop,
and using a brush tool (red) draw in the boundary,
if you hold shift and click on the points where the boundary changes direction (each corner of a rectangle for example) it will draw straight edges between points, better than doing it free hand. dont make the line too thick,
save as a new jpeg (so you have original if needed)
and print
