Architect in Residence
Galway City Council and Galway County Council in association with the Arts Council, are inviting applications for the post of Architect in Residence to work with secondary schools in Galway City and County.

The purpose of the residency is to explore the artform of Architecture with an emphasis on awareness and perception of the built environment.
The project aims to develop knowledge, appreciation and awareness of architecture as an artform among secondary schoolchildren in the City and County, while engaging creatively in the process, drawing on the architectural heritage of Galway City and County. The precise scope of the work of the Resident will be determined by the Residents specific interests and expertise. Galway City Council and Galway County Council are committed to supporting the Architect in Residence to create their own work and are keen to support new ways or ideas a Resident might have in developing an interest in their chosen field within the wider community as part of their residency.
The Resident is expected to provide no more than 20 hours per week to the scheme (including travelling time within the City and County) and may involve evening and weekend work in consultation with Galway City Council and Galway County Council.
Applicants should forward a CV and submit a written proposal of no more than one A4 page outlining possible approaches to the residency. Candidates must also submit a Portfolio of A3 size of the last 10 years work including realised and unrealised work. Candidates may be short-listed for interview on this basis. Selection of candidates for appointment shall be based on an interview.
