A draft 20-year planning policy for the Greater Dublin Area has recommended that the delivery of housing in the metropolitan area be speeded-up, while more jobs be provided in hinterland towns such as Naas, Maynooth and Navan.
These Regional Planning Guidelines, which cover the four Dublin councils as well as Wicklow, Kildare and Meath, have gone on public display and will be available for the public to comment on until 5 March.
There will then be a two month period for councillors in the individual Local Authorities to vote on whether to vote accept or reject submissions.
The more than 50 page document, with 48 recommendations, is available on the web at
The RPGs are supposed to give effect to the National Spatial Strategy which was launched last year with a view to limiting the growth of Dublin and making development sustainable.
RPGs for the rest of the country are expected to be published next month.
